1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using LifeLine™ ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users of the Service. Last updated: February 2026.
2. Description of Service
LifeLine™ is a free, educational web application that provides:
- General first aid information and step-by-step emergency instructions
- Information about common diseases and medical conditions
- Emergency telephone numbers by country
- Interactive health and first aid quizzes with persistent progress tracking
- General health facts and educational content
- A support chat feature staffed by non-medical personnel
- A nearby emergency room finder using your device's geolocation
3. Medical Disclaimer — IMPORTANT
LifeLine™ is NOT a medical service. The information provided on LifeLine™ is intended for general educational purposes only. It is NOT a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
- Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare professional regarding any medical condition.
- Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of information on LifeLine™.
- In an emergency, call your local emergency services IMMEDIATELY. Do not use LifeLine™ as a substitute for calling emergency services.
- LifeLine™ staff in the chat are NOT medical professionals and cannot provide medical advice, diagnoses, or prescriptions.
4. Data Collection & Progress Tracking
LifeLine™ uses IP-based anonymous progress tracking to restore your quiz scores and progress across sessions and devices:
- IP address hashing: When you complete a quiz, LifeLine™ fetches your public IP address (via ipify.org), converts it into a one-way numeric hash, and uses that hash as an anonymous identifier. The raw IP address is never stored.
- Firebase storage: Your anonymised quiz progress is stored in Google Firebase Realtime Database (EU region). No name, email, or personally identifiable information is stored alongside it.
- Chat name: If you use the support chat, you are asked to provide a first name. This is stored locally on your device and in the chat session for staff communication only.
- No behavioural tracking: We do not use analytics cookies, advertising trackers, or profiling tools of any kind.
- By using LifeLine™, you consent to this anonymous, IP-based progress tracking as described in our Privacy Policy.
5. User Responsibilities
By using LifeLine™, you agree to:
- Use the Service only for lawful, educational purposes.
- Not misuse the support chat feature (e.g., harassment, spam, or inappropriate content).
- Not attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, or disrupt the Service.
- Understand that the Service is educational only and not medical advice.
- Always contact emergency services in life-threatening situations rather than relying on this app.
6. Support Chat Terms
The LifeLine™ Support chat is provided as a convenience feature:
- Support staff are not certified medical professionals.
- Staff can only provide guidance on using the app, general safety reminders, and direction to appropriate services.
- Chat messages are stored in Firebase Realtime Database and are accessible to LifeLine™ support staff.
- You must provide a first name before initiating a chat session.
- Staff reserve the right to end chat sessions or restrict access for misuse.
7. Emergency Numbers
LifeLine™ provides emergency numbers for educational and reference purposes. We strive to keep numbers accurate but cannot guarantee real-time accuracy. Always verify emergency numbers for your specific location with official sources. Numbers may change without notice.
8. Intellectual Property
All content on LifeLine™, including text, design, code, and branding, is the property of LifeLine™. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without explicit written permission.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
LifeLine™ is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the information is always accurate, current, or complete.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LifeLine™ shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, or from reliance on any information provided herein.
11. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by applicable international law. Any disputes shall be resolved through negotiation or appropriate legal channels.
