LifeLine™ provides general medical information only. It does not replace a doctor. For emergencies, call local emergency services.
1. Introduction
LifeLine™ ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our website and Progressive Web Application (PWA). Last updated: February 2026.
2. Information We Collect
LifeLine™ is designed with privacy as a priority. We collect minimal information:
- No account required: You do not need to create an account to use LifeLine™.
- Local storage: Your preferences (dark/light mode, language, bookmarks, quiz scores) are stored in your browser's localStorage for a fast, personalised experience.
- IP address (anonymised): To keep your quiz progress and scores persistent across browser sessions and devices, LifeLine™ fetches your public IP address via the ipify.org API (ipify.org). Your IP is immediately converted into a one-way numeric hash — the raw IP address is never stored anywhere. Only the hash is used as an anonymous identifier to retrieve your progress from our database.
- Quiz progress: Your quiz completion records (quiz name, score percentage, date) are stored in our Firebase Realtime Database, keyed to your anonymised IP hash. This allows your progress to be restored if you clear your browser or switch devices.
- Support chat: If you use the LifeLine™ Support chat, messages are synced to Firebase Realtime Database and are visible only to LifeLine™ support staff. You are asked to provide a first name before chatting; this is stored locally and in the chat session.
- No behavioural analytics: We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party behavioural tracking tools.
- No cookies: We do not use tracking cookies.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Restoring your quiz progress across sessions and devices using an anonymised IP hash
- Storing your preferences (theme, language, bookmarks) for a personalised experience
- Enabling the support chat functionality
- Improving the application based on general usage patterns — no personal data is analysed
4. Third-Party Services
- ipify.org: Used to determine your public IP address for anonymous progress syncing. ipify's privacy policy is available at ipify.org. Your IP is hashed client-side and the raw IP is not transmitted to our database.
- Firebase (Google): We use Google Firebase Realtime Database to store anonymised quiz progress and support chat messages. Data is stored in the EU (europe-west1). Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
- Google Fonts: We use Google Fonts (Syne and DM Sans). Your browser may contact Google servers when loading the app. Refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details.
- Google Maps: The "Find Nearest ER" feature opens Google Maps in a new tab. Google's privacy policy applies to any location data shared with Google Maps.
5. Service Worker & Offline Caching
LifeLine™ uses a Service Worker to cache pages and assets for offline use. No personal data is stored in the service worker cache — only the application's HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files.
6. Children's Privacy
LifeLine™ is suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at internationall.lifeline@gmail.com.
7. Medical Information Disclaimer
LifeLine™ provides general health and first aid information for educational purposes only. We do not collect, store, or transmit any health-related personal data you read about on this platform.
8. Data Retention
- Local data: Stored in your browser's localStorage until you clear it. You can clear it in your browser settings → Clear browsing data.
- Firebase data (quiz progress & chat): Retained indefinitely unless you request deletion. To request deletion, contact us at internationall.lifeline@gmail.com with your approximate location (country/city) so we can identify and remove your anonymised record.
- IP hash: The anonymised hash stored in Firebase cannot be reverse-engineered to recover your IP address.
9. Your Rights
Under applicable data protection laws (including GDPR), you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Since we only store an anonymised hash, we cannot identify you by name or email. To exercise your rights or request deletion of your progress data, contact us at internationall.lifeline@gmail.com.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of LifeLine™ after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
